Decorative Cloth. Condition: Very Good +. No Jacket. Chris Van Allsburg (illustrator). First Edition. Swan Lake by Mark Helprin was pubished by Ariel Books/Houghton Mifflin Company in 1989. Not an ex-library copy, this 7 3/4" X 10", 81-page, First Edition offering is in VG+ condition. There may be some ever-so-slight yellowing of text's pages--I'm not sure whether or not this offering was printed on cream colored paper. The book's only other flaw is the presence of a brief Christmas gift inscription, but even this is so neatly done it almost seems to have been there at publication(it's located on the main Title Page, beneath, and to the right of, the title. This book is practically like new, otherwise. From reverse side of said main Title Page, "A young prince and his beloved Odette struggle against the evil Von Rothbart to protect themselves and their infant daughter in this adaptation of the classic ballet." Beyond the story, THE REAL STARS of this offering are the thirteen(13) exquisitely charming full-page, full-color Drawings of Grand Rapids, Michigan-born Chris Van Allsburg(and that's not counting the approximately 4 1/2" X 4 1/2" drawing, inset on the front cover, of a swan taking off from the surface of a beautiful blue lake, or pond, shrouded in fog. NOTE: Some of this particular book, I'm told, were sold WITH dust jackets, and some WITHOUT. My offering is among the latter group, for what it's worth, Reader. This is, simply, one beautiful book, on several levels. Thank you!!.
