Full brown leather binding, gilt wheat-stalk decoration to boards, gilt page block edges, Moiré fabric end papers and a silk ribbon page marker. Illustrations by Claire Leighton. Binding is tight, sturdy, and square; boards and text also very good. Gilt on top edge of page block has a couple very small rubbed spots. Ships from Dinkytown in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Illustrated with beautiful woodcuts including 12 tipped in mounted plates, including frontispiece, and numerous little black & white illustrations. 485 pages. Book is signed in pencil on the front free-end-paper by William Lyon Phelps, renowned professor of English Literature at Yale from 1892 into the 1940's. Inserted is a copy of a listing of books from the library of Phelps which includes this book. This book is immaculate being clean, complete, and tight. Signed by Illustrator(s).
