Vintage reference photograph of Nancy Kwan and director Henry Koster, with Jack Soo observing, on the set of the 1961 film. Mimeo snipe on verso. Based on the 1958 musical by Richard, Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II, and Joseph Fields, which was, in turn, based on the 1957 novel by C.Y. Lee. One of the most interesting Rodgers and Hammerstein adaptations to film, with no major stars, and the only adaptation of the musical team's work not to be released by Twentieth Century-Fox ("Showboat" was released by Universal, but was written exclusively by Hammerstein). Nominated for five Academy Awards. Set in and shot on location in San Francisco, California. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine. National Film Registry.

Manuscript / Paper Collectible
Vintage script for the 1947 Broadway play. Copy belonging to an unidentified cast member, with their annotations in manuscript pencil and ink throughout, noting stage directions and amending dialogue for several male characters. Many annotations partially (and unsuccessfully) erased, possibly in service of the script being used by several different cast or crew members. A small-town man hopes to follow in the footsteps of his father, a successful doctor, but is gradually disillusioned by his experiences at a big-city hospital. The play opened on October 10, 1947, at the Majestic Theatre, running for 315 performances. Rodgers and Hammerstein's third theatrical venture, following "Oklahoma!" (1943) and "Carousel" (1945). Maroon titled wrappers, with a Rodgers and Hammerstein label on the bottom right corner of the front wrapper. Title page present, undated, with credits for Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. 105 leaves, with last page of text numbered 2-47. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only. Pages Very Good plus, wrapper Good, moderately worn and creased overall, with front wrapper and first leaf detached from the binding, bound with two gold brads.
