Good+ to very good. Small 0ctavo (Pocket book size). 3rd English edition 1st in this format and publisher, 1854. Synopsis: Later titled only as "The Black Tulip" *The plot takes place while tulip mania grips the Netherlands. The main fictional character, Cornelius Van Baerle, who is imprisoned by a rival and he secretly grows the Black Tulip with the jailers daughter. Bibliographical note: The book appeared (supposedly) in 1851 as a first in English from the 1850 French edition. We can find no copies of this selling. This "One of Dumas daintiest novels" according to Reed's Bibliography, edition we have therefor stated as a 2nd edition in the "Parlour Library Series" No 108. A 3rd edition was published in 1861 by Clarke.
