Book
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Liske, Crosby J. (Editor) ;Forsythe, Don R. (Editor) ;Poynton, James (Editor) (illustrator). 5th or later Edition. "This encyclopedia is a general reference work for use in the home, school, and library. Its purpose is to present accurate information in compact, readable form. Since its first printing in 1919, it has proved its value both as a source of essential knowledge and as an efficient tool for organized study." Revisions to reflect new political realities, knowledge, inventions and discoveries had, since the end of WWI, forced a new edition to be published almost every each year. To accomplish this, a staff of 15 editors and 84 experts throughout the country were employed to keep information up-to-date. There are 3,952 pages n the 10 volume set, pages are numbered consecutively through the volumes for the entire set. Text enhanced with B&W photos& line drawings plus several full color plate and 3-page fold-outs. When shelved normally, the 10 volumes take 12.75" linear shelf-space. Hardcover volumes have navy impressed leatherette boards with gold lettering on the spine, but no dust jackets. I did not notice any marking within the text, however POS (lends no additional value) in volume 1 with Hebrew/Arabic alphabet & numerals in front end-papers. Each volume in the entire set is tightly bound with little wear either externally or internally. Even the 3 page fold-outs seem complete. Copyrights 1919, 1922-6, 1928, 1930, 1932-9, 1941-52. 1952 edition, print-run not found. Printed in U.S.A. No ISBN, LCCN nor MSR. Due to the oversize and weight of the set additional shipping cost may be requested/required for EXPEDITED and OUT-OF-U.S.A. shipment in accordance with destination. Prior Owner Name No Value.
