Binding tight and strong with hint of slant toward upper end; page edges very bright and clean. Moderate uniform toning to clean, unmarked pages, though prev. owner's name in large hand beneath upper edge title page and in beautiful hand with date October 1914 on ffep.

Hyde, with signature dated 1887, then later owned by John Fowlow Tulk (an Episcopalian minister who attended Trinity College in CT and who passed away in MN in 2013), with his ownership information dated 1956. Edited, with notes, by William J. Rolfe and Heloise E. Hersey. Several minor bumps, small chips, and worn through areas to extremities of volume, with light to medium wear and light soiling to remainder of cloth. Gilt lettering to spine and front cover remains clear and bright. Frontispiece of Browning, with original protective tissue in place. Two previous owners neatly inscribed their information in ink to front free endpaper, else, text clean.
