"Hey, that's what I'll call you - Collywobble!" says Farmer Joe. When Farmer Joe's sheepdog, Bess, has seven pups, three are big and strong, three are good enough, but one's the most shivery, wobbly little scrap you're ever likely to see. Joe and Bess go to fetch the sheep down from the snowy mountain, but it's getting dark and they're still not back. Will Collywobble be brave enough to try and find them?

About the Author:
Malachy Doyle grew up in Northern Ireland, and after living in Wales for many years he has now returned to Ireland. He and his wife Liz bought an old farmhouse on a little island off the coast of Donegal. From pop-up books for toddlers to gritty teenage novels, his work encompasses many age groups and is available in a range of different languages. Over the years he has won many prestigious book awards.
Review:
Doyle and Brown have produced a splendid picture book about a little runt of a sheep-dog, called Collywobble by his owner Farmer Joe because he is a collie and he wobbles! One of a litter of seven, Collywobble seems to be a loser; his brothers and sisters are all destined to be sheep-dogs or family pets, but no one wants the runt. Farmer Joe keeps the little dog, but has no expectations from him. The fact that Collywobble has the heart of a lion and becomes the hero of the story is not altogether unexpected, but no less heart-warming for that. The illustrations are a treat. Full of pictures of rural Wales in the snow, lots of woolly sheep, and very endearing dogs, they are wonderfully evocative of the countryside and superbly drawn. This is a book all the family will enjoy and will cause a run on sheep-dog puppies in the coming months!
