Clinical depression brings turmoil, despair, and pain that can crush the well being of its victims and their loved ones. But the merciful power of the Atonement can lift even this heavy burden. This inspiring guide portrays the experience of the Vandagriff family, which struggled under depression for more than twenty five years before relief came through the grace of Jesus Christ. G.G. Vandagriff and her son, Gregory, suffered the physical and emotional effects of depression, while David Vandagriff endured the intense difficulty of trying to support his wife and son during the turbulent years of their illness. Yet in the midst of great strife, the family saw the hand of God revealed in the form of inspired physicians, effective medications, and most importantly, the direct influence of the Spirit and the Atonement. Written in turns by mother, son, and father, this poignant and uplifting account shows how to rely on the Atonement during times of adversity and draw on the Savior's blessings of peace, hope, and healing.

About the Author:
G.G. Vandagriff is the writer who conceived this project because of her gratitude to her Heavenly Father and her Savior for the wonderful healing she received. She wishes to convey hope to all those who suffer from depression that healing is possible, even after twenty years of suffering. She is a graduate of Stanford University and received her master's degree from George Washington University. She worked as a college instructor an international banker, and an assistant to the treasurer of Harvard University, but her great love is writing. She has published Voices in Your Blood, Cankered Roots, Of Deadly Descent, Tangled Roots, and Arthurian Omen. Greg Vandagriff participated in this project because he was anxious to share the transformation that the Atonement and correct medications have made in his life. He particulary wants to reach those youth who don't understand why they can't function at their best and who don't feel that they fit in. Those who are unknowingly suffering profound depression. After filling an honorable mission in Atlanta Georgia, he returned to BYU where he is studying business. He currently works part time for a computer peripherals company. David P. Vandagriff, G.G. encouraged David to write about the experience of being married to a depressed spouse and being the parent of a depressed child. David received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and graduated with honors from Pepperdine University School of Law. He has practiced law in California and Missouri and has worked as an executive in several technology companies.
