Today is like any other day in Grover Cleveland High's science lab - any day in the Jurassic Era, that is! Doc, the school genius, has rigged up a tight little time machine masquerading as an exercise bike, all fine and good until pretty-girl princess Heather cops a ride and drags herself, Doc and Lindsay Goldman - a.k.a. teen superhero GoGirl! - back several million years to the dinosaur-infested jungles of the long-gone past. As if being late for cheerleading practice isn't enough of an annoyance, try ditching a hungry T-Rex! And where did those alien spaceships come from?!

From Booklist:
Gr. 3-6. A retro look and an old-fashioned plot in which catty girls provide most of the tension make this opening segment in the Go Girl! graphic novel series a sound choice for kids much younger than the characters. Robbins, who has made a name for herself as a feminist in the comics world, creates a story about three stereotypical high-school girls--the dismissive cheerleader, the misunderstood brain, and the daughter of a 1970s-era superheroine--who become stranded in prehistory. The girls are quick-witted, the dinosaurs are cartoony, and a late appearance by Vikings offers readers a taste of what Nordic women might have been like in a confrontation. This isn't high concept, but it's definitely good, clean fun. Francisca Goldsmith
