The Paleolithic Diet - also popularly referred to as the caveman diet, is a modern nutritional plan based on the presumed diet of wild plants and animals that various humans ate during the Paleolithic era. This was from about 2.5 million years to 10,000 years ago and ended with the development of agriculture and grain-based diets. These meals are based on the idea that human genetics have not changed since the dawn of agriculture, and modern humans are genetically adapted to the diet of their Paleolithic ancestors. Therefore the diet we are physically set up for is one that we’ve been doing for 2.5 million years. One aspect of the Paleo diet helping people lose weight is that it has lower energy density than the typical US diet. Most fruits and berries contain 0.4 to 0.8 calories per gram and vegetables can be even lower than that. Of course, meat is more energy-dense (up to 1.7 calories per gram), but it supposed to be about half of the diet. Today’s processed food eaten by the masses has densities in the 2.4 to 2.8 calories/gram range and desserts like cookies and chocolate bars exceed 4 calories/gram The Paleo diet is clean in the way that you know what you are putting in your body. We are going to stay away from words that only a Chemical Engineer can pronounce. This cookbook is directed towards people who have an active lifestyle and need high protein to rebuild the muscles that they are tearing down during training. Please don’t forget to get lots of sleep as that’s where your training and the food come together to rebuild your muscles. This cookbook should be the only one you will ever need to make your favorite foods and follow a Paleo diet.
