One by one his friends, Badger, Fox, Squirrel and Mole, unaware of the real reason for his expedition follow him - tramp, tramp, tramp - up the snowy mountain. But, of course, no one asks Bear where they are headed. Badger joins the jaunty crew, sure they are headed for bear's secret honey stash. Squirrel imagines a treasure hunt. And Mole foresees delicious worms. Narrator Brian Bowles does not betray Bear's trust. He animates each animal's thinking while maintaining Bear's secrecy. Bowles's pacing builds suspense, and then he lets out squeals, first of dismay and then of delight, when the surprise is revealed.
