Is scarcely necessity for an apologetic or other Preface further than to say that I have written what follows from the desire anyone who may possess interesting and authentic records concerning his ancestors naturally has to preserve their evidence, and to hand them on to succeeding generations; possibly I may add, that not having contributed any Twigs to the Family Tree, I feel it a duty, so far as in my power, to perpetuate the memory of its Root and Stem; this I have endeavoured.
