About the Author:
Jo Angelia Simpson was born in Salzburg, Austria in 1958; God s gift birthed into the hearts of a young military couple, Joseph Curtis and Thelma Raye Waters. She began her teaching career in 1980 and her experience in the secondary and elementary classroom have shaped and confirmed her love teaching and transforming lives. In 1995 after earning a Master of Arts in Teaching Sociology with a minor in Psychology, from Southwest Texas University, Jo served as an instructor of Sociology at St. Philip s Community College (San Antonio, TX) from January 1997 to January 2012. Jo continues to touch lives in the classroom as an adjunct instructor at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. Over the years Jo developed her spiritual gifts through puppet ministry, working with youth in Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, College Ministry, Rites-of-Passage, and national youth conventions. Jo Angelia has the gift for writing and has directed two plays; The Miracle of Christmas in 1995; and How Ruth Got Her Praise Back in 1999-2000. She is also the creator of PalmTreeWomen Project which is designed with the goal of reaching out to all Christians, women in particular, inspiring them to be strong in their faith walk. She also participated as a writer of Sunday School material at Antioch Baptist Church from 2007-2008. Jo Angelia has been a popular speaker and teacher for the San Antonio area churches and possesses the gift of encouragement as she shares what God has done in and through her life. In July of 2011 Jo married Mr. W. C. Simpson whom she describes as her Blessing from God for my obedience to Him . He has been best friend, encourager, and the wind beneath my wings . She is currently a member of the Zion Global Ministries (Cincinnati, Ohio), Co-Pastors Freddie and Marsha Piphus. In 2013 Mrs. Simpson participated as a guest speaker for informal caregiving issues and challenges focusing on her book The Person Beside the Bed. Previous events include: Antioch Baptist Church Book signing 2013, St. Philip's College Booksigning and presentation 2013, Heal the Healer (San Antonio, TX)2013, and 2014; The Osprey Assisted Living Center 2014, Eustiss FL, The Florida Hospital Waterman 2014, New Jerusalem Caregiving Conference 2014, Fountain, CO. As a mother, the joys of her heart are her children Taliferro Neal, Jr. (Clarissa); and daughter Kimberly Marie Benford Johns (Karl) and her family. As a grandmother, Jo is known as (GaGa) to Raizel (10), Sabryia (8), and SaVaughn (5), and Tayla Marie (2). Family and close friends describe Mrs. Simpson as a woman with a generous heart, a joyful spirit and a sense of humor. Her favorite scripture is Philippians 4: 6-7; Be anxious for nothing but in everything through prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, make your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God that passes understanding will guard your heart and your mind through Christ Jesus.
