Advice includes developing a positive attitude and a sense of humor, making relationships work, studying hard to prepare for the future, dealing with drugs and alcohol, taking time to know God, and developing a respect for the environment. It adds up to an extremely well-rounded perspective on positive living. The few black-and-white drawings add touches of humor and highlight ideas. Well-chosen, pertinent quotes abound; they range from the Bible to Vince Lombardi to Ralph Nader and Bill Cosby. Although the book is from a Christian publisher, references to God are made sparingly and are not overbearing. The chapter on sexual relationships is particularly good, presenting the facts without lecturing so teens can make their own choices. Those who choose to engage in sex are strongly encouraged to use birth control to avoid pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. The chapter concludes with toll-free numbers for the V.
