From School Library Journal:
PreSchool-K Four-year-old Suki learns that she will be going to daycare while her mother helps her father in the office. The little girl's fears are explored realistically, but the ending is pat and contrived. The fear of separation and of the parent not returning for the child are shown beautifully through Suki's silence during the first daycare visit and in Kramer's expressive ink and colored pencil illustrations. However when Tompert uses Suki's dream about leaving her teddy bear at Brown Bear's School for Teddies, she loses all subtleties in order to hammer home the point that Suki's mother will never forget her since she "belongs in her heart." This book, with its multi-racial characters, may help to ease the fears of going to daycare. In spite of its didacticism, it will be useful in a parenting collection, since so many children are facing daycare and nursery school today. Janet E. Fricker, Warminster Township Free Library, Pa.
