From Booklist:
Gr. 3-6. People across the world have created stories to explain the sun, the moon, and the stars. McCaughrean tells 15 such tales from different countries and cultures, including a Pawnee legend about why stars are so far away and a West African explanation of rainbows. Colorful illustrations by Sophy Williams accompany each story, adding visual appeal without detracting from McCaughrean's rich language. Middle-readers will find most stories both entertaining and easy to understand. Brief information about each tale rounds out the book, but there are no source notes, an unfortunate omission in an otherwise appealing, diverse collection. Karen Hutt
