Everyone hopes for a rewarding and fulfilling career, but the day-to-day reality can be just the opposite. The routine of our jobs, office politics, and problematic projects can often be the cause of frustration, worry, and disappointment. The quest to find personal satisfaction, much less pride in our work, can be daunting.

It doesn’t have to be that way. According to Nancy O’Hara, we can find meaning in our jobs—but the first thing we have to do is look within ourselves. Grounded in principles of Zen Buddhism and full of real-life stories, Work from the Inside Out presents a simple plan to reclaim your job and your life—and ultimately find the ability to truly love what you do.

From the Back Cover:
“Nancy O’Hara’s Work from the Inside Out is a subtle and intimate blend of traditional Zen Buddhist practice and practical wisdom. Clearly emerging from her own experience as both an employee and a student of meditation, O’Hara’s remarkable gift lies in presenting this venerable discipline in an accessible and thoroughly contemporary voice.”
—Perle Besserman, author of Owning It: Zen and the Art of Facing Life

“Unhappiness at work takes a serious toll on our mental and physical health and is a major risk factor for illness. If we want to live life to its fullest, we cannot afford to separate our work from our spiritual life. Work from the Inside Out shows how to weave these two aspects of our lives into a seamless whole.”
–—Larry Dossey, M.D., author of Healing Beyond the Body, Reinventing Medicine, and Healing Words
About the Author:
NANCY O'HARA is the author of Find a Quiet Corner and Just Listen. She was drawn to Zen Buddhism in the mid-1980s after her father died and found solace there in the profound stillness of silent meditation. After living in a Zen Monastery in the early nineties, Nancy became even more dedicated to her practice and passionate about sharing with others the mindful approach to living that the monks had taught her. Since before her first book, Find a Quiet Corner, was published in 1995, she has been conducting workshops and retreats for seekers interested in Buddhist teachings through a Western-mind filter.

Nancy spent more than twenty years in the corporate arena working for both large and small firms and left that world in the mid-1990s to venture out on her own. Those years spent inside corporate America have given Nancy a keen insight into the challenges we all face every day on the job and the importance of balancing mind and body, soul and spirit. With one foot firmly planted in the West and the other in the East, Nancy O'Hara brings to us a rich and powerful message laced with simplicity and compassion.

Currently a full-time author and teacher, Nancy shares her unique approach to a peaceful life through her Zen Life Coaching practice, meditation classes, workshops, retreats and corporate seminars. Nancy continues to live in New York City, rather than on the top of a mountain waiting for enlightenment, because she believes the truth is to be found in the daily rituals of our ordinary lives. She is currently writing Zen mysteries.
