Every other one ends with the line, "But what does the rabbit say?" In the end, readers learn that "Rabbit makes no peep or call./And still we love him best of all!" Children will enjoy quacking with the ducks, growling with the bear, and hissing with the snake. Cartwright's stylized illustrations done in deeply saturated colors add interest and action to the merry text as a boy and girl search for an answer to the title question.
