When Grandfather's Parrot Inherited Kennington Court - Hardcover

Grade 3-5-- When Miranda's grandfather dies, he leaves his English manor house, Kennington Court, to his pet parrot. If, however, one of his relatives "should prove worthy to inherit the property" by locating the key to a mysterious box kept by the Kennington family lawyer, the property will become theirs. With the exception of Miranda and her guardian, Aunt Lucille, no one in the family wants to look after the parrot, but everyone sets out to look for the key. Caring for her grandfather's pet, however, provides Miranda with the clues needed to solve the mystery of the hidden key. This is an enjoyable, amusing, and easy-to-read mystery. The pen-and-ink illustrations are charming, complementing the story nicely. An entertaining book, and not just for mystery fans. --Elizabeth Mellett, Brookline Public Library, MA
