From the Author:
The setting of this novel, the Belle Meade Plantation in Nashville, TN, is a real antebellum estate that still welcomes visitors today. The Harding family, characters in To Whisper Her Name, lived at Belle Meade in the 1800s and many of the events included in this novel were taken from their personal history and then fleshed out in my imagination.
In addition to the Harding family, many of the former slaves who served at Belle Meade inspired characters of this story--Robert Green, Susanna Carter, and many others. In nearly every instance, I used the real names of the former slaves and the positions they held at Belle Meade. However, the characters' personalities and actions are of my creation and should be construed as such. After two years of research and writing To Whisper Her Name, I invite you to join me on yet another journey into the postbellum world of Nashville, Tennessee. Thank you, faithful readers, for entrusting your time to me. It's a weighty investment that I treasure and will never take for granted. "To Whisper Her Name draws you in on a journey to redemption and love between two people who have suffered deeply from others' judgment. This is a story of love but mostly of God's grace and His ever present hand in restoring the lives of those who seek him. A romance so deeply satisfying, both to my heart and to my soul."
