Against the warnings of rape and brutality towards women and a "primitive" lifestyle, Inez Baranay went to Enga, a remote province in Papua New Guinea, to work as a volunteer for two years. She was to work with the Provincial Women's Council, as an advisor to the government on women's affairs, and set up educational programs for women. Her enthusiasm and warmth quickly endeared her to many locals, and she found herself drawn to the immense beauty of the highlands of Papua New Guinea.
