Review:

The tone is appropriate...The writing style is clear and straight-forward.

This would be the only up to date text that examines in a comprehensive way the making of Canadian foreign policy and the factors that condition it.

- Donald Barry, University of Calgary

This is a well-written and structured book on how CFP is made. Great detail on the internal dynamics of domestic forces within government and outside of government.

Glad to see a new edition of this classic textbook.

- Duane Bratt, Mount Royal College

This volume does a solid job of providing an overview to students of the politics of Canadian foreign policy.

- Heather Smith, UNBC

The textbook is a foundational undergraduate guide to the study of Canadian foreign policy. Using relevant historical examples, it describes both the domestic and the external structures and agents that affect the policy-making process. By reading this text, students will gain essential knowledge of the historical constraints and contemporary possibilities of Canada’s international policies.

The text appears to offer a necessary update to Nossal 1997 (3rd ed). There are no other texts, in my knowledge, that cover the foundations of Canadian foreign policy in a more thorough and rigorous manner.

- Dr. Andrew Lui, McMaster University
